Sustainable farming practices in Central Queensland, Australia

Soil management in sustainable agriculture Proceedings Third International Conference on Sustainable Agriculture, Wye College, University of London, UK, 31 August to 4 September 1993: 31-36

A large-scale study in Central Queensland has shown that soil erosion is reduced by crop rotation and the retention of crop residue. Opportunity cropping increases crop water use and minimizes soil evaporation, runoff and erosion. Zero tillage has not replaced conventional cultivation in the region; however, zero tillage is used in combination with double cropping.
