Sustainable food production in Thailand

Sustainable food production in Thailand

Sustainable food production in the Asian and Pacific Region: papers delivered at the 12th Meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee of the Food and Fertilizer Technology Center for the Asian and Pacific Region, Taipei, Taiwan, ROC, April 10-16, 1994: 73-79

The paper discusses constraints to agricultural sustainability in Thailand and ways in which sustainable crop production can be achieved. The constraints include: population growth; deforestation, which has resulted in a reduction in rainfall, and is probably the main reason for the 1994 drought; land degradation and erosion; pest problems; and socioeconomic problems, particularly poverty.
