Sustainable rural development in Sokoto State, Nigeria

This study examines the sustainability of government initiatives in Sokoto state, Nigeria, regarding the provision of agricultural inputs, assistance and extension services to farmers, and the extent to which agency efforts are coordinated and integrated, particularly regarding water management. A programme to install tube wells is used as a case study of a rural development agency meeting the needs of the people. Seventy five tube well owners were targeted for questioning.
