Sustainable water development and management in Jordan

Sustainable water development and management in Jordan

Proceedings of International Conference on Water Resources Planning in a Changing World: I33-I46

Water resources are a key factor in Jordan's socioeconomic growth. Since any shortage or decrease of water supply would have a constructing effect on the general development effort, the development of the water sector is crucial for growth in the other sectors. Jordan suffers from limited water resources due to its hot climate and relatively scarce and fluctuating rainfall. Average annual rainfall ranges between approximately 600 mm to under 50 mm.
