Sweet cherry cultivars on different rootstocks in the Crimean steppes

Sweet cherry cultivars on different rootstocks in the Crimean steppes

Sadovodstvo i Vinogradarstvo ( 2): 6-7

Details are given of the performance of various cultivars of sweet cherry (Prunus avium) grafted on Prunus avium and Prunus mahaleb rootstocks. The scion cultivars used were Russkaya, Lastochka, Chinara, Proletarka, Bagration, Novinka, Syurpriznaya and Drogana Zheltaya. The results of long-term trials show that various cultivars can be grown successfully on rootstocks of P. avium or P. mahaleb in the Crimean steppe, provided that at least two irrigations are carried out each growing season.
