Swine fever immunization of piglets before suckling and antibody detection

Swine fever immunization of piglets before suckling and antibody detection

Chinese Journal of Veterinary Medicine 21(5): 9

Swine fever on a commercial pig farm in pigs of 10 to 90 days of age was attributed to an insufficient vaccination programme resulting in a lack of maternal antibody. A pre-suckling vaccination programme was administered to newborn piglets. In an antibody test, pre-suckling immunized piglets retained a 1:32 neutralizing titre for up to 6 months of age.
