The changing market place in Asian outbound tourism: implications for hospitality marketing and management
This paper traces the growth pattern of tourist arrivals from the four Asian tiger economies of Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan to countries in the Pacific Rim, and comparisons are made with Japanese tourist arrivals. The life cycle theory is applied to outbound tourism to explain the patterns described. Results indicate that the four Tigers' market share has increased considerably in the short term.
