A case of Candida endocarditis in a premature female neonate is reported and the experience of childhood infective endocarditis in the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria, from postmortem examination records during the past 3 decades is reviewed. The index case had a tricuspid valve vegetation consisting of colonies of fungal organisms complicated by lung and cerebral emboli. 18 other paediatric cases, comprising 11 males and 7 females, are described. The median age was 5 years.
