The composition of nectar in apricot cultivars

, : The composition of nectar in apricot cultivars. Acta Horticulturae ( 384): 367-371

The nectar composition of 24 cultivars was analysed. The nectar sugar content was low and in most cultivars did not reach 10% by the beginning of flowering. The lowest sugar content was found the in self-fertile cultivars, followed by the self-sterile ones and the highest concentration was in the partly self-fertile types. Bees did not visit those cultivars where the nectar sugar concentration was only 5%.
