The conditioning of wheat grains infested by Oryzaephilus surinamensis L. (Coleoptera: Cucujidae) - is the presence of pheromones responsible?

, : The conditioning of wheat grains infested by Oryzaephilus surinamensis L. (Coleoptera: Cucujidae) - is the presence of pheromones responsible?. International conference on pests in agriculture, 6-8 January 1997, at le Corum, Montpellier, France Volume 3: 811-817

The effect of population density and exposure to conditioned grain on the development and productivity of Oryzaephilus surinamensis was studied. After 60 days in a high-density culture, 98.5% of adults were dead and there were very few larvae and pupae. Thereafter, the medium was considered to be 'conditioned'. The mortality rate of O. surinamensis adults after 10 days exposure to conditioned medium was 97.5%.
