The article examines the preconditions for the successful entry of Slovakia into the Western European tourism market, and considers the factors which are important in influencing tourism. Knowledge of consumer behaviour and skills in communication with Western consumers are highlighted as important preconditions for the success of Slovakia and Slovak tourist organizations on the tourism market.
