The content of oligosaccharides and fat in the seeds of Polish faba bean (Vicia faba) cultivars
The contents of ethanol-soluble sugars in seeds of 12 Polish faba bean cultivars were determined by HPLC. Contents of fructose, sucrose, raffinose, stachyose and verbascose were in the ranges 0.05-1.17, 0.48-1.13, 0.17-0.47, 0.25-1.09 and 0.16-1.75% of DM. Total concentration of ethanol-soluble sugars was highest in Jasny (4.74%) and lowest in Bronto (1.54%), Tibo (1.61%) and Alen (1.66%). Verbascose and stachyose contents were highest in Jasny and Kamir.
