The control of nematodes and weeds by soil solarization in tobacco nurseries: effect of the film thickness and of the covering duration
In trials (1989/90 to 1991-92) to study the effect of soil solarization for controlling nematodes and weeds in tobacco nurseries, plots were covered with clear plastic film of 100, 200, 300 or 400 gauge for 15, 30, 45 or 60 days and then compared with an untreated control or a control with carbofuran application at 1.5 kg/ha before sowing. The nematode susceptible bidi tobacco Anand 119 was sown in the first week of July.
