The convective drying of bagasse in a boiler

As sugarcane bagasse has high initial moisture content, its drying in a boiler strongly influences the temperature distribution and the location of ignition in the furnace. Two mathematical models of the drying process were evaluated by experimental study of cylinders of fresh bagasse in a stream of hot dry air. The first model, which was empirical, assumed an exponential decrease of water content.
