The economic impact of fire on forest resources: improving the US Forest Service's fire management planning system capabilities to use non-market values

The economic impact of fire on forest resources: improving the US Forest Service's fire management planning system capabilities to use non-market values

Wildfire 2(4): 16-21

Recent federal budget deficits and a growing societal awareness of the importance of maintaining a healthy environment have forced a new approach to natural resource management in the US Forest Service. Three specific acts of Congress have also had a major effect on the Forest Service approach to resource management and have implications for their fire management planning system.
