The effect of cotton varieties on the nutrition physiology of cotton bollworm Helicoverpa armigera (Hubner)



Journal of China Agricultural University 1(3): 47-51



Significantly different relative growth rates, relative consumption rates, approximate digestibilities, food conversion rates and efficiencies were observed in larvae of Helicoverpa armigera fed on different cotton varieties. A mathematical model was developed reflecting the relationship between the relative growth rate and the gossypol, tannin, total protein, total sugar and monosaccharide contents.
