The effect of liquid properties on spray formation by flat fan nozzles

The size distributions of spray droplets produced by an agricultural flat fan nozzle spraying a range of spray liquids, containing a blank emulsifiable concentrate formulation and one of 6 adjuvants, were measured. Measurements of surface tension of the spray liquids were also carried out. Photographs of spray formation showed that the mechanism of sheet disintegration is through perforation by the emulsion droplets.
