The effect of some plant growth retardants on the productivity of cotton plant

In pot trials, cotton Giza 80 seedlings were given 3 foliar sprays of 0, 50 or 100 p.p.m. CCC 0, 25 or 50 p.p.m. Pix and 0, 200 or 400 p.p.m. Alar at 15-d intervals starting at squaring. In general, growth retardants decreased plant height, number and length of internodes and stem:root ratio, except for Alar. Stem and root DW, number of bolls/sympodia, number of flowers and bolls/plant, and seed cotton yield were increased by growth retardants.
