The fine structure of the spermatheca of Pardosa lugubris (Walckenaer, 1802)

The fine structure of the spermatheca of Pardosa lugubris (Walckenaer, 1802)

Revue Suisse de Zoologie Hors serie(2): 635-642

The structure of the spermatheca of Pardosa lugubris was studied, using spiders collected in the field in Germany. Different types of pores were found in the cuticle of the spermatheca. In the spermathecal epithelium distinct cell complexes were observed, consisting of secretory and auxiliary cells with a cuticular ductule in the centre, leading to so-called primary pores. These pores are suggested as a primitive character in all spider species.
