The investigation of general combining ability in multigerm tetraploid pollinators of sugar beet

Review of Research Work at the Faculty of Agriculture, Belgrade 40(2): 25-34

Information on combining ability and heterosis is derived from data on root yield/ha, sugar content, sugar recovery, purity of extracts, yield of crystalline sugar/ha, and content of alpha -amino nitrogen, K and Na in 10 tetraploid multigerm sugarbeet pollinators and their F1 hybrids. Pollinators with a high sugar content were the best combiners, except for root yield; sugary pollinator 785-16 was the best.
