The strategy of substituting arable land crops with woody seeds and oilseed crops in China

Woody seed and oilseed crops can be used as substitutes for more common arable crops in China but their yields are lower. It is, however, possible to increase the yields of these crops and make their performance as profitable as other arable crops. Costs of production of replacement crops may be lower and the market price may be higher. Some crops may provide forage replacements.
