Uncertainty and transient contamination of river water by agricultural use of industrial products: release and run-off of hazardous chemicals from agricultural plastic film

Uncertainty and transient contamination of river water by agricultural use of industrial products: release and run-off of hazardous chemicals from agricultural plastic film

Water Science and Technology 33(2): 27-35

An organophosphoric acid triester, tricresyl phosphate (TCP), was detected in the Kurose river, Hiroshima, Japan, and its seasonal variation in concn, low in dry weather and greater after rainy days, indicated contamination originating from non-point sources. However, precipitation did not always increase the concentration of TCP in the river. Some rain events increased TCP in river water and bottom sediments, whereas others did not.
