Nira (Co 86032) - a new variety of sugarcane for Maharashtra

Released in 1996, Nira is a hybrid derived from the cross between Co 62198 and CoC 671. Nira is a high yielding and high sucrose containing mid-late variety with reddish pink and straight stalk which have a slight waxy coating on internodes. It is moderately resistant to smut and wilt and produces flowers sparsely.
