A high oil, linoleic fatty acid content and yielding new sesame mutant variety Yangbaeckkae

A high oil, linoleic fatty acid content and yielding new sesame mutant variety Yangbaeckkae

RDA Journal of Industrial Crop Science 40(2): 83-88

A new sesame mutant recommended variety "Yangbaeckkae" was developed through induced mutations using NaN3(sodium azide) 2mM 3 hours treatment on dried seeds of recommending "Danbaeckkae" at the National Crop Experiment Station in 1984. "Yangbaeckkae" has higher oil and linoeic fatty acid content compared "Chinbaeckkae" a check variety. Phytophthora blight and lodging tolerance of "Yangbacekkae" were stronger than those of "Chinbaeckkae". Three capsules bearing habit on a leaf axil with bi-carpellates and quadriloculi was shown in "Yangbaeckkae" with higher maturity percentage and more numbers of capsules in a plant. "Yangbaeckkae" outyielded the check variety "Chinbaeckkae" by 9 percent with 957kg/ha in monocropping and 8 percent of 902kg/ha in second cropping after barely, respectively. It is adaptable to the whole country except Cheju island.
