The incorporation of annual weed life history with operations such as tillage and seedbed preparation (ploughing and rotary tillage) was modelled mathematically to describe the dynamics of weed seed populations. The transition matrices for ploughing and disc harrowing were determined by field experiments. Numerical experiments were conducted to predict the effect of changing the annual ploughing depth on weed seed population.
