A study carried out among natives and migrants in Rondonia, Brazil, between 1993 and 1995, investigated the humoral and cellular responses to Plasmodium falciparum rhoptry-associated protein-1 (RAP-1) and RAP-2 expressed in Escherichia coli, a peptide corresponding to the epitope bound by inhibitory anti-RAP-1 antibodies, and 4 other RAP-1 and RAP-2 synthetic peptides.
