A study on rust of weeping willow

In recent years rust disease, caused by Melampsora coleosporioides, of weeping willow (Salix sp.) has become increasingly serious in inner Mongolia, China. The spermagonium and aecial states of the fungus occur on leaves, stems and fruits of Corydalis bungeana; the uredial and telial states occur on the leaves of weeping willow. Out of 8 plant species inoculated with basidiospores, only C. bungeana showed typical symptoms.
