A study on the production system for Taiwan country fowls: growth traits of three-strain cross country fowls

A study on the production system for Taiwan country fowls: growth traits of three-strain cross country fowls

Journal of the Chinese Society of Animal Science 26(3): 271-284

Cocks of the B and S sire strains of Taiwanese fowls were mated to hens of six 2-way crosses of the Y, L1, L2 and D dam strains. 2041 chicks were produced. Body weight was similar for progeny of cocks of the 2 strains. Comb size was greater in the B-strain progeny. The dam strains ranked in the above order for the magnitude of their positive effect on body weight. Body conformation score was not affected significantly by the sire or dam strains.
