Accelerated growing of field shelterbelts in the south-eastern Central Chernozem Zone

Details are given of the rate of growth, weediness, depth of snow, and soil moisture content in young shelterbelts planted at 1.5x0.7 or 2.5x0.7 m in SE Russia. The belts consisted of Fraxinus excelsior and Betula pendula.
