Accumulation of heavy metals (Cr, Ni and Fe) in mung bean (Vigna radiata cv. Local) grown on metalliferous minespoil

Uptake and accumulation of chromium, nickel and iron in different parts including the seed of mung bean plants (Vigna radiata) were determined in pot culture experiments with metalliferous minespoil. Chromium was poorly transported to aerial parts and was found in traces in the fruits; nickel and iron, however, were more easily transported to shoots and roots as compared to the seeds.
