Acidification of rainwater due to washout of atmospheric gaseous pollutants

Acidification of rainwater due to washout of atmospheric gaseous pollutants

Water for a changing global community Proceedings of theme B environmental and coastal hydraulics: protecting the aquatic habitat Vol 1-27th Congress of the International Association for Hydraulic Research, San Francisco, California, USA, 10-15 August 1997: 299-304

A physicochemical mathematical model was used to investigate the characteristics of acidification of rainwater by washout of gaseous pollutants. The model deals with the below-cloud scavenging of the pollutant gases, and considers the drop-phase chemistry and the mass transfer at the interface between the drop and the atmosphere.
