Actinomycosis in a lymph node diagnosed by fine needle aspiration cytology

Actinomycosis in a lymph node diagnosed by fine needle aspiration cytology

Acta Cytologica 42(3): 828-829

A case is reported in a 47-year-old man from Korea Republic who presented with a right-sided anterior neck mass. Computed tomography of the neck showed a highly enhancing mass with multiple low-density areas in the right side. Fine needle aspiration smears demonstrated an acute inflammatory exudate and aggregates of Actinomyces composed of fine granules and radiating filaments with occasional branching.
