During 1993-94, crop losses and epidemiology of R. solani on soyabeans were investigated in Madhya Pradesh, India, and toxin production by R. solani was investigated in vitro. Disease reduced shoot length, pod and seed formation, total number of seeds and seed weight. On 1 September (55 days), disease incidence was 1.5%, it increased to 7.7-9.8% in late September, and thereafter it decreased. Aerial blight symptoms occurred at flowering, and increased with crop canopy and age.
