Agronomic characteristics of maize (Zea mays L.) cultivars and quality of components and silage

In a field trial, 19 maize cultivars were compared for lodging, breaking and yield, and 9 were selected for further study. There were no significant differences among these 9 cultivars for dry matter yield, ear percentage, contents of neutral detergent fibre (NDF) and acid detergent fibre (ADF), or in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD), while crude protein (CP) and soluble carbohydrate contents varied slightly.
