Alfalfa silage versus red clover silage or a mixture of alfalfa and red clover silage as the sole forage for lactating dairy cows

, : Alfalfa silage versus red clover silage or a mixture of alfalfa and red clover silage as the sole forage for lactating dairy cows. US Dairy Forage Research Center, Research Summaries (MAR): 97-99

A 3 x 3 Latin square design was used comprising 3 diets with equal net energy for lactation, but containing 60% DM from red clover lucerne or red clover + lucerne silages plus 32 or 35% DM from high-moisture maize and sufficient soyabean oilmeal to give 16.5% crude protein (CP). 21 cows were blocked into 7 groups of 3 and assigned to diets for 4-week periods.
