Allelochemicals from buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum Moench) as herbicides

Korean Journal of Weed Science 19(1): 83-89

This study was conducted to determine the effect of allelochemicals from buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum) on the germination, and shoot and root growth of weeds. MeOH extracts gave greater inhibition of germination and growth of weeds than water extracts. As the concentration of extract was increased, the inhibition activity also increased. Allelochemicals in methanol extracts were isolated and identified using a number of methods.
