Inflammation was induced by i.p. lipogen triple vaccination to rainbow trout and brook trout to study the early humoral response. Severe acute sterile peritonitis occurred after vaccination in both species. Both species also had a rapid transient reduction in plasma iron concentration 3 days after vaccination. Moderate hypoferraemia persisted to day 14 in brook trout, but returned to normal by day 7 in rainbow trout.
