, : Alternate year pruning of mature 'Nonpareil' almonds (Prunus communis). Acta Horticulturae ( 470): 473-476

Annual pruning has long been recommended for mature almonds in California for fruitwood renewal to maintain production. This study was undertaken to compare the impact of alternate year pruning to that of annual and non-pruning on 10 year-old Nonpareil almond trees. The pruning treatments were: (1) annual; (2) alternate-odd year; (3) alternate-even year; and (4) unpruned.
