An economic analysis of the on-site cost of soil erosion in tea smallholdings in Sri Lanka

Some of the literature on the economic impact of soil erosion is cited. A theoretical discussion on user cost and the methodology employed in the empirical estimation of user cost and shadow price are presented. Based on farm survey results from 77 small farmers in the major tea growing regions of Kandy, Badulla and Galle, Sri Lanka, a representative farm model is then calculated.
