Analysis of embryo and endosperm genetic effects on diastatic power and associated malting quality traits of malting barley

Analysis of embryo and endosperm genetic effects on diastatic power and associated malting quality traits of malting barley

Acta Agronomica Sinica 25(1): 25-31

Seeds of 7 cultivars of two-rowed barley (Hordeum distichum and F2 seeds from a half-diallel set of crosses among these cultivars were evaluated for diastatic power (DP), alpha -amylase activity ( alpha AA), beta -amylase activity ( beta AA) and malt nitrogen (N) content. Embryo and endosperm genetic effects on the traits were studied using a genetic model with genotype x environment interaction for malting quality characters.
