Are summer treatments against the rosy apple aphid justified? Basis for a time-related economic threshold

Studies carried out in Switzerland in 1996-97 showed that the apple pest Dysaphis plantaginea caused considerably less damage in June than in May, and that consequently economic thresholds need to be time-dependent and a summer insecticidal treatment against the pest is not always necessary.
