Arg-gingipain inhibition and anti-bacterial activity selective for Porphyromonas gingivalis by malabaricone C

, : Arg-gingipain inhibition and anti-bacterial activity selective for Porphyromonas gingivalis by malabaricone C. Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry 63(8): 1475-1477

Effects of malabaricon C, isolated from Myristica fragrans, on Arg-gingipain (EC 3.4.22.37) activity and growth of several kinds of anaerobic and aerobic microorganisms were investigated. Malabaricone C irreversibly inhibited Arg-gingipain by 50% at a concentration of 0.7 micro g/ml and selectively suppressed the growth of P. gingivalis growth.
