This study was carried out to determine the optimum bud sample size and artificial frost treatments for comparing the frost resistance of stone fruit cultivars. Artificial frost treatments were carried out in a phytotron. To determine the optimum sample size, 2000 flowers buds from each of 10 apricot, 5 plum and 5 peach cultivars were collected and their natural frost damage levels scored. This data was used to create a database, from which samples of 50-250 buds were constructed.
