Associative symbiosis and nitrogen nutrition of rice

Current Agricultural Research 9(1/2): 71-76

Rice Massuri has a high N fertilizer requirement for high yields. Treatment with bacterial (Azospirillum) isolates as seed treatment or foliar spray gave appreciable increases in growth parameters, plant N content and grain yields. Foliar sprays were more effective than seed treatments, both in sand culture in pots and under field conditions in Orissa, India.
