Attractivity of mammal hair for female taiga ticks Ixodes persulcatus Schulze

Attractivity of mammal hair for female taiga ticks Ixodes persulcatus Schulze

Acarina 1997; 4(1/2): 49-52

Hair samples of 20 mammal species from 6 orders as well as 5 human volunteers' odours were investigated in a vertical olfactometer. All tested mammal species and 4 volunteers were attractive for female I. persulcatus collected in Russia. The highest degree of attractiveness was revealed by one of the volunteers and the hair samples of a wolf (Canis lupus), dog and boar (Sus scrofa).
