Basic studies for the microbiological control of the potato Andean weevil (Premnotrypes vorax) with Beauveria spp. and Metarhizium sp

A laboratory study was carried out to compare 4 isolates of Beauveria bassiana, 1 isolate of B. brongniartii and 4 isolates of Metarhizium anisopliae for the control of Premnotrypes vorax. The pathogenicity was evaluated on full grown larvae. Selected isolates were evaluated against adults in 3 different concentrations (1x105, 1x107 and 1x109 propagules/ml). Two isolates of B. bassiana, Bv and Bv6, were selected for a mesh house experiment with Solanum phureja plants.
