Behaviour of five-year-old Asian Pear (Pyrus pyrifolia N.) cv. Shinseiki grafted on Pyrus calleryana D. and Pyrus betulaefolia B

During the 1993/94 growing season, several physiological, vegetative and productive parameters of 5-year-old Shinseiki trees, grafted on P. calleryana or P. betulaefolia rootstocks, were evaluated in a study conducted in Chile. Scions grafted on P. betulaefolia produced higher yields, but those grafted on P. calleryana produced fruits with a higher sugar content. The trunk girth of trees on P. betulaefolia rootstocks was larger.
