Biochemical responses of resistance to race 4 of Heterodera glycines in Chinese black soyabeans

Study of soyabean seedlings 17 days after inoculation with race 4 of H. glycines showed that the total sugar content in infected roots of the susceptible control, Ludou 1, was 46.01% higher than that in healthy plants and 24.91% and 37.77% lower in the roots of the resistant varieties Huipizhiheidou and Yuanboheidou, respectively. Fructose increased 144.3% in infected roots of Ludou 1 but decreased or increased to a smaller extent in the roots of the resistant cultivars.
