Biodegradation of some triazines and phenylureas in surface waters

Biodegradation of gardoprim, igran (triazine herbicides), dicuran and patoran (phenylureas) by natural microflora of surface water, was characterized by an extended lag period. Biodegradation rate followed a first order kinetics. Triazine herbicides were more amenable to microflora than phenylureas. The half-life time ranged between 6.9 and 18 days for triazines and between 13.9 and 21.6 days in the case of phenylureas.
