Oriental yellow scale, Aonidiella orientalis in known to be distributed in 24 countries across 4 continents. It has been reported as a pest of arecanut, banana, citrus, coconut, guava, mulberry, peach, pomegranate and tamarind among several recorded host plants. It has assumed recently a serious pest status on coconut and arecanut in South India.
